Planning to Bring Home the New Suzuki Hayabusa!

Suzuki

suzuki hayabusa 2011 whiteThis is perhaps my last article in the series of buying a superbike in India, and after looking at all the options, I guess I’m going to bring home the new 2012 Suzuki Hayabusa, but with the price hike game that Suzuki is playing at the moment, customers like me may not want to order anything right now!

Earlier, when I was planning to pick up a Hyosung 650R, the dealer told me that there’ll be a price hike of at least 30-40k in 1st or 2nd week of December, but I just learned that Hyosung is going to offer a heavy discount of 60-70k to reach their target of selling 500 bikes this year! (I’m still having a second thought on ordering it because it has now come down to even less than 5lakhs on-road, which is fantastic for a 650cc superbike of that caliber!)

It was a blessing in disguise that I did not book the Hyosung 650R the day I took its test drive, and fell in love with superbikes, because I found that it was just the beginning!

Other Cool Superbikes in India

After that, I checked out the Ducati Monster 795, Harley Davidson SuperLow XL883L, Kawasaki Ninja 650R, Honda 1000 CBR, Yamaha MT-01, FZ1, and the Yamaha YZF R1, and now I almost know everything about all the good superbikes in the market.

The Suzuki Superbike Showdown

When I finally went to the Suzuki showroom, I saw the Dhoom flashback in front of my eyes – the Suzuki Bandit 1250S, Suzuki GSX-R 1000, and my dream bike – Suzuki Hayabusa 1300 (1340cc to be precise!), and I knew we’re talking about only 10+lakhs here.

There’s no GSXR-600 available in India at the moment, and the new Intruder 800 is a cruiser bike, which is the only option below 10lakhs, but I’m looking for a sportsbike, and the Bandit was the first option.

I was quite disappointed with its appearance, though the specs and performance quite rightfully backed up its price tag of 10.2 lakhs (on-road price in Bangalore).

Then I saw the new GSX-R 1000 2011 limited edition and I received another shock to discover that it was costlier than the Busa! Hell yeah, I thought the Hayabusa was the costliest in Suzuki’s sports bike line-up, but the 2011 Hayabusa is 15.31 lakhs on road, and GSX-R 1000 is 16.21 lakhs!

Colors of New Hayabusa 2012

2011 Suzuki Hayabusa comes in Pearl Nebular Black, Pearl Mirage White, and Orange color shades, while the new 2012 Suzuki Hayabusa will be coming only in a black, and milky white shade (I’m shocked that there’s no red/orange/yellow at all!).

Pricing of New Hayabusa 2012 in India

A price hike of about 30k is expected on the new Busa, but then I’m not quite ready to shred off 15+ lakhs to save those 30k (just the 6months interest will be much more than that, and I’ll save more if I buy it after 6-8months anyway lol!).

Sure thing, the price tag hurts, but my biggest concern is that this monster weighs over 300kgs with custom silencer, fenders, and custom fittings, and about 260+ kgs with factory fittings!

This beast isn’t for everyone – and I mean it quite literally! Even if you can afford to cough out 15lakhs somehow, it isn’t easy to handle this beast on the roads, especially in this congested Bangalore traffic!

Performance

1340cc in-line 4-cyl fuel injected, 4 stroke DOHC liquid-cooled engine having Twin Swirl Combustion Chambers, 16-valves delivers a breath-taking 197 Bhp @ 9500 rpm, and its 6-speed constant mesh transmission is simply unrivaled, as it churns out 155 Nm of torsion @ 7200 rpm.

It’s capable of crossing 300kmph, but it’s top speed is electronically limited to 299kmph as per the Indian rules, and its performance is simply outrageous! It can do a 0-100kmph practically in under 4seconds, and you’re sure to fall in love with this beast at first sight (I literally mean it again!).

I could find a rare sight – black and white Busas parked right next to each other in the Suzuki showroom at KH Road (Aerolex Motors!), and of course I couldn’t miss that moment so I captured it my Samsung Galaxy tab without a second thought, and sharing it with all of you!

I’m planning to purchase the new 2012 Suzuki Hayabusa for sure, and I’m least interested in a Yamaha YZF R1 (I don’t know folks like it), because I feel the busa is lot sportier, and powerful than R1, which is just meant for racing fanatics and not for practical riders!

It’d still take me at least 6-8months time to get my hands on this beast, so perhaps it’d make an ideal present for my next B’day (but unfortunately I’ll have to gift it to myself!)… And, by then I’ll have to somehow build a better physique and put on 10-15kgs to be able to control this beast!
